The PGA Tour has the FedEx Cup. Bluffton will have it's Chamber Cup.
Timber Ridge Golf Course, working with the Wells County Chamber of Commerce, is putting together a new summer golf league focused on the community's businesses and organizations.
"The idea is to have two-person teams, which will represent their company or organization," explains Timber Ridge professional Bruce Imel. "It will be a Wednesday night, shot-gun start, and we will have alternate formats each week to make it fun and interesting."
The league is slated to last 14 weeks beginning May 2nd. The season will then end with some playoffs with the top four teams receiving prizes and awards, which will be presented at the next available Wells County Chamber of Commerce event.
"We thought this would be an opportunity for people to represent their company and enjoy meeting and playing with other teams," Imel said. Companies can have more than one team, but each team should have a substitute available since the competitions will have to take place on each Wednesday evening.
Imel adds that the format will alternate each week between best ball, alternate shot and a scramble/bramble format.
"The Chamber is excited to partner with Timber Ridge to offer a fun and competitive league throughout the summer," said Eric Prible, the chamber's executive director. "We are looking forward to recognizing the league champs and honoring them with The Chamber Cup at a Quarterly Luncheon. This is just another way we can collectively bring other Chamber Members together and offer exciting things to do in our community."
